    What is E-waste?

Discarded electronic equipment and devices. E-waste contains valuable materials and hazardous substances, making proper recycling important for both environmental and carbon reasons.

    Why it matters

The production of electronic equipment is carbon-intensive. Extending device lifespans through repair and refurbishment, and ensuring responsible recycling at end of life, reduces both e-waste volumes and the embodied carbon associated with replacement devices.

    Example

A company with 200 employees extends its laptop refresh cycle from three to five years and donates retired devices to a certified refurbishment charity. This avoids approximately 40 tCO₂e in embodied manufacturing emissions over the policy period.
