What is CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project)?
A global non-profit that runs the world's largest environmental disclosure system. CDP enables companies, cities, and regions to measure and manage their environmental impacts, with data used by investors and purchasers.
Why it matters
CDP scores are used by investors managing over $130 trillion in assets. While direct CDP disclosure is typically relevant for larger companies, SMEs in their supply chains may be asked to provide data through the CDP supply chain programme.
Example
A packaging supplier receives a CDP supply chain questionnaire from a major retail client. The supplier uses its existing EcoHedge carbon report data to complete the disclosure, achieving a B score on its first submission.
